Books I Have Read So Far - Finished

"If you don’t like to read, you haven’t found the right book."

 – J.K. Rowling

How it Started?

It's 11PM.

Suburbs of Malda, West-Bengal.

Me: I've my English exam tomorrow. You read these books. I am going to bed. Wake me up when you are done. Then tell me the story.

My Sister: ok

3 Hours Later..

My sister wakes me up and narrates chapter by chapter, story by story, poem by poem of all my 3 English course books (a Stories book, a prose book and a Shakespeare's play).

And that's essentially how I aced all my English exams.

If you fear reading. Believe me, I understand.

For 3 years that Harry Potter book remained unopened on my shelf, which my sister left at house after probably reading it 10+ times.

I could only read technical books, programming books, comics & anything with pictures 😅.

We are always told we have to read for grades. And there are no grades in real life. So why read?

With age our body grows. We grow taller, bigger and somewhere we assume so does our intelligence. People believe experience and intelligence comes with time. Automatically!

Equipped with mirror neurons, we pickup things fast. That's how we are supposed to learn things in our early age. But most of us rely on these whole our life. No doubt we become the average of top 5 people we spend our time with. No doubt children turn out to be an spitting image of their parents or elder siblings.

Every living thing wants his life enhanced. We are biologically tuned to do that. If we don't know a proper way, we find shortcuts. A man/woman who goes to a bar or a man/woman who goes to a temple or a man/woman who goes to a library, or (now) a man/woman who goes regularly on social media..

THEY ARE SEEKING THE SAME THING.

They're trying to enhance their life. If a proper way is not available, we tend to pick whatever way is available on the street.

It took me a long time to understand this.

How is it Going?

I've been trying to read on and off for years now. I barely read one book till the end.

I know it's highly cliche saying that a quote changed my life, but this one actually did:

❝The only person you are destined to become is the person you decide to be.❞

Coming across this made me realize that I had some control over my destiny.

So, if I wanted to be good at communication, I need to decide it.

If I wanted to be good at persuasion, I need to decide it.

If I wanted to be good at creativity, I need to decide it.

Ok. So, I decided. Now what?

This question is what triggers your mind. When we ask a question, our mind is triggered to seek for it's answer.

This lead me to Books.

I'm proud to share my 2020 journey with you. I had my New Year's Resolution of reading 101 books. I ended up reading 158 that year.

Hope this inspires you to be better.

Good Luck on your Journey.
