The Pygmalion Effect
After seeing a very peculiar behavior (although not rare) from a person yesterday..
I recalled reading last month the Journal from The Scripps Research Institute published in 2012, and stumbling upon a study conducted by Professor Norihiro Sadatowhen..
Which showed that..
when you assign someone a positive trait..
such as being smart or being a “good person”..
that actually prompts them to live up to that trait.
The Pygmalion Effect.
“the phenomenon where higher expectations lead to an increase in performance”.
High achievement always takes place in the framework of high expectation.
The opposite is also true.
Low expectations undermine achievement.
So, especially when with people you care about, cut down the "winner and loser conversation" and strive towards a more learner approach.
