Social Hierarchy and US

Image
We have a psychological low/high counter at the bottom of your brain that . . > keeps track of where you are . . in terms of your status . > and it very well regulates . . the sensitivity of your emotions . So if you're at the bottom of the hierarchy barely clinging on to the world . . everything overwhelms you . You snap instantly . You get angry more . You take out your anger on your siblings and family and friends . And that's because you're damn near dead and so everything should overwhelm you . You've got no extra resources . Anymore threat . . And you're sunk . So you become extremely sensitive to negative emotion and maybe also impulsive . If you're near the top in the dominance hierarchy your counter tells you that . . you're less impulsive . . you live longer . . like everything works in your favor . your immune system functions better . . and you're o...

True thinking is rare

Image
People think they think, but it's not true . It's mostly self-criticism that passes for thinking . True thinking is rare - just like true listening . Thinking is listening to yourself . But in most cases, we have such a turn off for disagreement discussions, that we can't bear them inside our heads . Here's the trick: whenever you convey opinions, about anything . . Try to note how many different voices you hear . If it's just that One . You are not thinking . Note how many times we feel we are thinking . . but we are actually not . With ❤️️ SuperHindustani

The Pygmalion Effect

Image
After seeing a very peculiar behavior (although not rare) from a person yesterday . . I recalled reading last month the Journal from The Scripps Research Institute published in 2012, and stumbling upon a study conducted by Professor Norihiro Sadatowhen . . Which showed that . . when you assign someone a positive trait . . such as being smart or being a “good person” . . that actually prompts them to live up to that trait . The Pygmalion Effect . “the phenomenon where higher expectations lead to an increase in performance” . High achievement always takes place in the framework of high expectation . The opposite is also true . Low expectations undermine achievement . So, especially when with people you care about, cut down the "winner and loser conversation" and strive towards a more learner approach . With ❤️️ SuperHindustani
