Why is everyone so different?

काङ् क्षन्त: कर्मणां सिद्धिं यजन्त इह देवता: | क्षिप्रं हि मानुषे लोके सिद्धिर्भवति कर्मजा || 12|| kāṅkṣhantaḥ karmaṇāṁ siddhiṁ yajanta iha devatāḥ kṣhipraṁ hi mānuṣhe loke siddhir bhavati karmajā   Just completed the beginning of Gita Chapter 4 and found a small verse explaining how we choose who we are..  Just like in a game cricket..  Someone has to be take up one role of batsman and  someone has to be a bowler..  Not everyone can just be a batsman. That's the only way the society can function. We pick our role based on the quality of our minds. The texture of your mind gives color to your personality..  Making us inclined towards one field more than others. There are four types of people based on the mental makeup..  The combination and permutation of Satva, rajas and Tamas make up 4 type of people.. Scholarly ...

What's EGO?

न बुद्धिभेदं जनयेदज्ञानां कर्मसङ्गिनाम् | जोषयेत्सर्वकर्माणि विद्वान्युक्त: समाचरन् || 26|| na buddhi-bhedaṁ janayed ajñānāṁ karma-saṅginām joṣhayet sarva-karmāṇi vidvān yuktaḥ samācharan Almost closing in to the middle of chapter 3 of Gita, and I found some interesting definition of ego. How does your actions define what you get? Here's a cool and simple way to understand it..   Think of this like - We are all born with a Starbucks cup with our name on it. Everyone's got one, full of water. Our early years, all we think of is us. "what i do, what i got, who i am." That's our EGO. That's the salt in our cup. At the end, your water will be tested - "how salty is it.?" If you only recognize yourself with you, that's all you will be, just a very salty cup of water.  Now you can either dilute it with your family, by standing up for them. Or you...

Can I change my Luck?

न कर्मणामनारम्भान्नैष्कर्म्यं पुरुषोऽश्नुते | न च संन्यसनादेव सिद्धिं समधिगच्छति || 4|| na karmaṇām anārambhān naiṣhkarmyaṁ puruṣho ’śhnute na cha sannyasanād eva siddhiṁ samadhigachchhati Just finished the Chapter 3 part 2 of Gita and landed upon this gem.. We are all aware of the story of Govardhan Parvat, how Krishn sent out a message that we should not thank some supreme force. Instead we should thank and honor everyone around us who are helping us, which enraged Indr and to punish them, he sends terrible rain clouds to flood the land of Vrindavan. To protect villagers from this calamity, Krishn lifts Mount Govardhan on his little finger and had the entire village come under the hill to take shelter from the storm. For seven days and seven nights, he held up Mount Govardhan, providing a giant umbrella to shelter the inhabitants of Vrindavan f...

Knowledge vs Action

श्रीभगवानुवाच | लोकेऽस्मिन्द्विविधा निष्ठा पुरा प्रोक्ता मयानघ | ज्ञानयोगेन साङ्ख्यानां कर्मयोगेन योगिनाम् || 3|| śhrī bhagavān uvācha loke ’smin dvi-vidhā niṣhṭhā purā proktā mayānagha jñāna-yogena sāṅkhyānāṁ karma-yogena yoginām   Just finished the Chapter 3 part 1 of Gita and found some interesting ideas..  When Arjun asks "Tell me one thing that will be the best for me?" This is the answer he gets.. Right from the beginning of the world, there are always at-least 2 paths available to do something:              - Knowledge | for contemplative type people             - Action | Karma | for action oriented people Either you have to work through the way to your goal or you realize how to get it done quicker.   Example - If you want t...

Why Create another Blog?

Image
Why create another BLOG?  Why write when there's so much already being written on the internet? I kept asking myself this question for a long time. And not having the answer stopped me from ever writing before. I used to make stories, and poems and plays when I was in school. Never wrote anything down. We used my stories in school plays and functions. My close friends love the poems I used to write. Why write it down? If you search for " Ocimum tenuiflorum " also know as Tulsi, the first 20 results are non-Asian sources. Yet we know it like the back of our hand. The answer lies: Gita chapter 4 स कालेनेह महता योगो नष्ट: परन्तप  2 India has been a nation in which every knowledge was passed on verbally. But like in Gita Sri Krishna says, with the long passage of time, it was lost to the world. So, I decided to write.  Because knowledge is not power. Distilled and applied knowledge is power. - Read India Lead India
